TEDxMarkham St

I attended TEDxMarkhamSt and all I got was this t-shirt:

Yes, I just got a t-shirt. However, that physical reminder will stick with me throughout the coming year (until next year’s talk!) and remind me of all the great ideas that were spread July 24th at the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock.
Undoubtedly there are two camps of people that are reading this post right now: ones that watch TED videos on slow days at work between tasks and ones that have no idea who Ted is.
TED stands for “Technology, Engineering and Design” and the “talks” given in the name of “TED” are relevant to those topics. The “x” in TEDx indicates that this event was organized independently and in this case by a group of great people in Arkansas, mostly hailing from Little Rock. Thus, the Markham St. This inaugural TEDxMarkhamSt. was put together by the braintrust of three chairmen and executed by the honored speakers and a large team of willing volunteers.

I’m sure most volunteers, speakers and delegates alike will agree that local coffee company, WestRock is truly the fuel that kept each of us going from 7am ’til 10pm.

Little Rock native, HARK founder and entrepreneur, Tim Freeman, ┬áserved as emcee of the event. I’m pretty sure he was the most stoked person in the room to have TEDx in his hometown:

The chairs of TEDxMarkhamSt cast 2015′s talk with some fantastic speakers. From biting the hand that feeds us in agriculture to right turns/wrong turns for Little Rock, there was something for each audience member to connect with.

To top off a full day of learning, P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain Farm catered the dinner enjoyed by delegates and speakers alike. Blue Canoe Brewery kept the conversation going with an assortment of their brews.

If you missed the inaugural TEDxMarkhamSt, I highly encourage you to apply to be a delegate of next year’s. You’ll certainly see this proud TEDx sponsor and her camera there again!
